Beyond being Co-Head of Mid Corporate, Paul became Accountable Executive for UK Corporate Bank Race at Work in 2021. He critically evaluated the previous action plan’s effectiveness in colleague attraction, development, retention, and engagement and drove a significant momentum uplift through a diverse colleague working party, embedding reverse mentoring for all line managers, signing-up all managers to DE&I Employee Resource Groups, and securing personal DE&I ‘pledges’ from 100 leaders. Barclays is progressing towards its 2025 Race at Work ambition, including increasing the population of Managing Directors from underrepresented ethnicities by at least 50% by December 2025 (in 2022 having doubled the number of Black Managing Directors). Paul focuses on providing equal employment opportunities in UK Corporate, and recently expanded his DE&I role to become the Accountable Executive for all 6 DE&I pillars. In 2022, Paul became NED of Black South West Network, supporting the charity’s ambition of achieving racial equity.
