Beyond her job as Director Business Management & Strategy Operational Risk at Barclays, Sharon has been leading DEI initiatives for the past three years focusing on Gender equity. As well as hiring and managing two black females, she coaches and mentors many colleagues and external females to support them on their career journeys. Sharon also organises intersectional events with Black and Asian Professionals and LGBTQ+, including panel events, and worked with a local low socioeconomic youth program (mainly recent immigrants) with a charity called Shine to provide mentoring with Barclays colleagues. Moreover, as the Development & Sponsorship Service Lead as part of the Risk DEI SteerCo, Sharon leads a team who run a HALO mentoring scheme offering 360 support for diverse colleagues with senior leaders, almost 500 colleagues currently signed up, the focus being on challenging DEI status quo, understanding different perspectives, driving change and creating a sense of belonging.
